Tofu Records — not a try at crossing music with edible media, but rather a new J-Pop label for those of us not fortunate enough to live in areas with fabulous import dealers.

This is post number five hundred on this particular blog. Not bad — but that’s not all! According to the oldest records I could find, this is also the day that I first started blogging, three years ago. Whee!

“Half a dozen, that’s like six.”

*Rolls eyes* I’m going to chalk it up to the fact that it’s, like, 2 AM on the east coast.

So today I had my ‘Application Session’ with the local Kroger’s affiliate. That was a strange experience — there were six or seven of us, all crammed into this teeny little room, where we were made to fill out another ‘it’s okay if you ask former employers about me’ form (which also wanted to know where you’d been living for the last seven years), answer five questions of the ‘what salary are you expecting/what skills do you bring to the table/what do you want from customer service’ variety, -and- do a multiple-choice quiz, one section of which were 80 questions from a booklet and the other section of which required us to watch a video and choose the best of four answers presented.

As per the usual, I wanted to argue and/or discuss some of the answers, because whoever put the test together was just…strange. The opposite of ‘representative’ is A) Unique, B) Normal, C) Intverted or D) something else that escapes me at the moment. Huh? How are you using ‘representative’? As in, “This sample is representative of all employees”? Or “Please write to your Representatives in congress right away!”? Also, they left compassion out of the equation when they presented a scenario in which an employee confesses that she’s having money problems to a couple of coworkers, whom she subsequently avoids. None of the choices were “Ask her if she’s okay/if everything’s all right in her life”, which is -much- kinder than “Talk to the manager” or “Tell her about the rumors you’ve heard concerning her behavior”. Granted, I’m weird, so being kind and compassionate is probably the last thing anyone else cares about.

Anyhow… I have no idea if I’ll get the job or not; there were a bunch of other people there and I get the feeling that there were maybe one or two jobs open. *Shrug* We’ll see. I’ll either get a phone call or a nice warm friendly postcard. I hate to say this, because I know it’s a bad attitude to have, but I’m expecting the postcard.

Oh well. I have other places to apply to, so I suppose I shall start doing so tomorrow. Whoopee.

Tired of having names suggested to you that are easy — easy to spell, easy to say?

Try BabyZone’s Name Inventor! Male names, female names, names for either or neither or both! Names like Wanealiac, Quro, and Xandolv! Looking for something a little -less- unusual? How about Buk, Mich, or Unduck?

from-hanna is a site by Sony that features everything from online shopping for the latest gadgets to info on how to tell really bad (we’re talking -bad-) jokes. The language-learning portion is great — it has a phrase-of-the-week section and, for those of us that are in love with Nicholas D. Wolfwood, a Learn Kansai-ben! manga.

I really need to start writing again. *Pokes things* The only question, of course, is where I put the bits and bobs of things that I have yet to finish… Like, say, Kessir and Dythnaali Go To The Ocean, which I’ve been thinking about.

I’ve held off on this as long as I could, but now I can resist no more.
