Good Lord, I had no idea what had been happening in NO the last couple of days. What a mess… I have no idea where Jimmy and his kitties are… Granted, he lives in Slidell and works in Metairie (I think that’s spelled right) but if distances in that area are anything like distances in Seattle, it means that he’s in as much trouble as anyone else.
Maybe he went inland to his aunt & uncle’s place with Ganache and Genoise.
In less fictional news, I think I’m going to go give the Red Cross some money, since that (and praying) is about all I can do…
Since I have a preponderance of Japanese music (mostly from anime soundtracks) in my playlists. I used one called Randomness! V n+1, and this is what I got:
1) What do you think of me, WMA10?
The World Without Logos, Yasushi Ishii
2) Will I have a happy life?
Echoing Truth, Hellsing Soundtrack
3) What do my friends really think of me?
In Decline, Nitzer Ebb (…oh. Oh dear.)
4) Do people secretly lust after me?
Get Your Love, Tange Sakura – Iwao Junko – Nogami Yukana (CCS Soundtrack)
5) How can I make myself happy?
Money, KMFDM
6) What should I do with my life?
Don’t Blow Your Top, KMFDM (good advice, but still…)
7) Why must life be so full of pain?
Non-Neurosis Tunes (Who The Hell Are You?) Yasushi Ishii
8) How can I maximize my pleasure during sex?
????[????????????????) (this would be so much more helpful in English. Heh.)
9) Will I ever have children?
Subtitle, Hand Maid May Soundtrack
10) Will I die happy?
???????????????????
11) Can you give me some advice?
Main Theme [Strings Version], Hand Maid May Soundtrack
12) What do you think happiness is?
?????, ANZA
13) What’s my favourite fetish?
I’ll Do My Best! [*], Hand Maid May Soundtrack
14) How will I be remembered?
Epilogue, HMM Sountrack
Alice Hill’s Real Tech News – Independent Tech » Open Office 2.0 Kicks MS Office Around the Block
And actually, for me it’s not so much the review or the software that is of interest as it is this line from the review:
OpenOffice also supports all of the major features of MS Office (and a few of its own) except for the grammar check. I’m personally fine with not having a grammar checker since it has given me the opportunity to actually learn the English language instead of relying on my word processor to make my sentences coherent.
Whereas if he relied on the grammar checker, they probably _wouldn’t_ be. I’ll never forget looking at something I wrote (I think it was part of my Kelvath/Avrath thing) in MS Word and it wanted to change “I don’t like you” to “I doesn’t like you”… Which even my _cats_ know is wrong.
Okay, explain to me exactly how having bad heartburn/ARD/GERD prevents you from cooking? _Tasting_ your cooking, sure, or eating a lot of whatever you make, obviously, but -just- cooking? By itself?
Google Talk is a new IM client… It’s in beta, but if it’s anything like the gmail beta, it’s probably pretty much functional out of the box. It does require a gmail address, though.
Speaking of which, I noticed that I now have 100 gmail invites. That’s _insane_ — I don’t know that many people! And besides, I don’t think I can actually get rid of them — I’ve noticed that when I’ve sent away my invites, the number has returned to whatever it was before I gave some away.
I’m not really complaining, just being kind of boggled.
And not World Of Warcraft, either.
As you can see, I’ve just changed PWR over to WordPress… And all I had to do was move my WP files out of one directory to another.
I did have a moment of panic, though — I thought I was going to have to tinker with things under the hood after the move, because when I went to the Admin page, there were the links I was expecting, but there was no style, and following the links proved they were broken (kinda, since they pointed to a nonexistant directory)… But, it turns out that all I had to do was put in the address of the General Options page, fix the WP Directory URI, and that was IT. It was fixed.
Simply amazing.
