DrinksMixer is an amazing collection of drink recipes, both alcoholic and non. Searchable, sortable, and quite well-designed — I don’t drink, but I do find myself wondering what’s in a [whatever] (and then I promptly get distracted by the ‘drinks similar to this one’ column, thanks to the fact that there are drinks with names like ‘Green Froggy’ and ‘Jager Bomb’) every once in a while.
These recipes often include serving and/or drinking instructions — I have to wonder how many people end up with fat/split lips and/or chipped teeth after following some of the recipes’ directions to drop a shot, glass and all, into a larger glass (usually filled with beer/soda) and then slam the whole thing. Yigh.
Also, I never knew how many people either A) lack tastebuds B) have no concept of complimentary flavors or C) just don’t _care_ that some flavors should never ever mingle. (orange juice and Coke? Seriously?)
I got Salmonella for Christmas — not _literally_, or at least not the kind that makes most people run screaming from the room. I got one of the Giant Microbes version. It’s cute! Ev got E. Coli and my mother got Giardia.
Remember, kids: cook all meat to at least 160 (slightly lower for fish and poultry), wash your hands and all surfaces well, and when in doubt, throw it out. Your innards (and family/friends) will thank you for it.
Y’know how people tell you that if you think you can do better then you should prove it? I’ve been wanting to prove that I can do better than the wenches over at you knit what?, but I haven’t decided if I’m going to or not.
In the mean time, the in-between time, I’ll be knitting and doing Christmas stuff with the family.
HAPPY SOLSTICE!
Yaaaaaay for the return of the sun!
(Yes, I know, we won’t be able to tell right away. Quit snowing on my parade.)
WordPress 2.0 will be out the day after Christmas, which is spiffy. It sounds interesting, particularly the themes tweaks — not that I know what they _are_, precisely, just that they have something to do with ease of customization.
I also picked up O’Reilly’s CSS Cookbook, into which I am planning to delve in the very near future. Like, the 26th, probably. Mostly I’ve just been lying about being incredibly lazy (today, my mother and I sat on her bed; she knit and I read to her from the ‘net, from the time we woke up until about 6:00. And then we went upstairs and continued, though mom did make dinner.) and enjoying my time with the crazy cats.
– Look for Dungeon Siege mods
– Figure out what you’re going to get people for WinterHols presents
– Write some emails, damnit

Two things:
– Why my computer has suddenly decided to stop playing DVDs. I think it is the fault of DivX, but I am not certain.
– Why my computer has suddenly stopped associating the apostrophe and arrow keys with their normal functions. Pressing the arrow keys does nothing, while the apostrophe is now mapped to the Find On Page feature of Firefox. Needless to say, this is incredibly irritating.
I’m in AK and Muddy is thrilled — I’m the only one in the family that lets him sleep in/on their bed.
I hate packing.
That is all.
This is no good… I’ve been awake all this time. I guess I’ll get a few things crossed off my list now, while I’m thinking about it (and have run out of things to read online)…
