Thanks. Thanks for ruining people’s lives, and for ruining what was my first-ever Tour.

It’s not that I don’t understand the “anti-doping” (and could there -be- a stupider way to refer to the use of illicit substances?) rules — after reading through the side-effects list, it’s a wonder that any of the prohibited substances are used in any way whatsoever — but I don’t understand some of the things in the “anti-doping” rules.

First and foremost, Section 15.1.1, which states, and I quote: “Accordingly, it is not necessary that intent, fault, negligence or knowing Use on the Rider’s part be demonstrated in order to establish an anti-doping violation under article 15.1.”

If we were to apply this in the rest of the world, it would be tantamount to saying “Well, you’re covered in blood and you’re near the corpse of a murder victim, so we’re going to execute you for murder without bothering to investigate any of it. Nice knowing you.”

Secondly, Vinokourov had been bleeding off and on since his accident — it seems to me that a blood transfusion (or infusion, rather) makes sense from a medical point of view. But thanks to your absolutely constipated rules, anyone who has blood on them for whatever reason is a murderer and so must be executed.

So yeah. Thanks for nothing.

Or at least I’m pretty sure it’s a record. 759 pages, purchased around 1:45 pm — I started reading it then, but I didn’t get to sit down and actually read-read until around 5:30 pm. So, from 5:30 until about 11:30, that’s six hours… Plus, say, another hour or hour and a quarter of reading while walking around and in the car… That makes it anywhere from 7 to 7.25 hours to read The Deathly Hallows from start to finish.

And speaking of which… Without spoiling anything, all I can say is it’s a fitting end. And also: FINALLY, GAAAAAH. Also also: Whee!

…I wanna go to Hogwarts. *Siiiiiiiigh*

Once again, I missed my blog’s birthday. Pocketwatch Romances, online for seven-plus years and counting!

I’d like to go back to sleeping through the night again. Failing that, sleeping from midnight ’til two-thirty or so, awake ’til four-thirty or five, and then asleep ’til ten-thirty or so would also be acceptable.

I don’t _want_ a job, but I have to have one or I won’t get to go to Sakura-Con next year. So, a job would be nice. Something that I can stand, that pays decently. And one that will not put me in danger of picking up a cat in need of a good home — the last two times I’ve taken in a homeless cat, I’ve gotten fired not too long afterwards.

Thanks ever so,

Me.

Which is what the Tigers are doing. Or not doing, as the case may be. ANYhow.

Ev’s at the Mariners game tonight, but we haven’t seen him on TV. Oh well.

Also, after having watched the STUUUUUPID cialis commercial with the African-American couple that starts off with the man whining about how “One minute we’re on the road to romance, and the next…”, I have this to say:

I NEVER ever want to eat dinner at the house of someone that cannot tell the difference between sex and romance, because God only knows what -else- they can’t tell apart.

The dark-eyed juncos are nesting in the yard! I accidentally startled one of them into flying away from their nest, and when I peered into the grassy fringe to see if I could find the nest, I could see an egg!

If I can get a picture (or two, from a distance, of course), I’ll post ‘em.

We seem to have at least one Dark-Eyed Junco who is very interested in mama’s rock wall. After looking them up online, it appears that the reason it’s been hopping around, checking out the nooks and crannies therein is because they nest in said nooks.

On the one hand, this is great. We love having critters carry on their lives in our yard, and since the swallows that normally nest in the soffit over the kitchen window don’t seem to have come back this year, it’d be neat to have another bird family to watch. On the other, the rock wall is between the yard and the driveway, so we’re always going by… And we don’t want to disturb them.

Despite the distinct lack of conformation to the laws of physics, I find myself actually enjoying Storm Hawks. It helps that I realized that just about everyone is named after birds, including Junko (as in ‘Dark-Eyed Junco’). Stork is… Stork. Nervous, hypochondriacal, prone to muttering dire predictions, he still manages (somehow) to pilot the Condor exceptionally well.

The dialogue’s not bad, and the mechanical designs are interesting. I’m still not overly thrilled by the far-too-similar character designs, but over all, it’s not bad.

Okay, so, the idea behind The Academy is pokemorphs in a battle-oriented high school. You can write, draw, or both — ‘battles’ are basically art-trades. You can have four ‘morphs to a team, plus alternates if you like. This FA journal entry explains it better than I can at the moment.

——-
So far, this is what I have:

Team 1:
– Tikksy | F | Skitty
– Ezekiel | M | Poochyena
– [name] | F | Slugma
– Vincent | M | Carnivine

Team 2:
– [name] | M | Marshtomp
– [name] | F | Luxray
– [name] | M | Lairon
– [name] | F | Gastrodon (East Sea)

Alternates:
– F Graveler
– M Finneon
– F Steelix (Li Xe)
– M Swalot
– F Tentacool
– M Pachirisu

All of this is preliminary, at the moment. In addition to the names for most of the ‘morphs, I need team names… I am going to write a bit where the kids of Team One discuss what their team name -should- be.

– New Interest/Obsession: PokeCombat Academy. Writing and Art. I will have more later.
– I am going to bed in about two minutes.
– I do not like Firefox 2.*’s new spell-check feature. Not because it tries to correct my text, but because it causes red lines to show up under words like ‘intertoobz’, which I know is spelled correctly. Hee. (It also doesn’t like ‘hee’. *Blows raspberry*)
– Li Xe is Lithium and Xenon, which is great — it means I can use it as my Steelix’s name without worrying about it being some horrible thing in a language I don’t speak.

…that’s all for right now. I have to go to sleep now or I’ll probably sleep ’til three in the afternoon and my mother will kill me.
