So I finally made up my little mind. I got myself an HP Pavillion dv230hfn 3ro3984 nhr32z* with an AMD processor running at 2.0 Ghz, two gigs of RAM, 120 gig hard drive, FREE SHIPPING, etc etc. The only drawback is that it’s got Vista on it, but oh well. It’ll be here sometime in January, yay!
[EDIT: Here's what I ended up with, from the confirmation email:]

This sounds like something Tikka and Marc-Paul would do, though they’d probably have difficulty talking Victor into it…
…not that you would know that if you go by shipping charges from certain companies.
So for Christmas, my generous and surprising father gave me some money for a new computer. (He also gave my brother a brand-new computer, because he found an absolutely AMAZING deal — not going to say how much, just in case, but it was very very good. And it was a complete setup, with monitor and everything, which just makes it more amazing.) Being the odd little duck that I am, I have not yet purchased anything, mostly because I haven’t been able to make up my tiny little mind.
Tonight, though, I was just about ready to purchase a system from I Buy Power, consisting of a nice AMD Athlon CPU, a 17″ LCD monitor, a Saitek Eclipse II keyboard, nice graphics card, a 250 Gig hard drive, etc etc etc. The total came to $802.00 (I’d have been deeply amused if it had been $802.11, but I’m easily entertained)… At least until I looked at the shipping.
The only shipping option offered for Alaska was FedEx 2 Day shipping at $189.00.
Read that again: one hundred eighty-nine dollars for two-day shipping ONLY.
Not even DELL charges that much for next-day shipping! (They charge about a hundred ten bucks, which makes sense to me; after all, you’re paying for it to get to its destination ASAP.)
Needless to say, I decided that I didn’t want a desktop from them after all.
I could still get a laptop from IBP, because they’re offering free shipping on all of their laptops, but for some strange reason the only laptop within my budget has a built-in webcam. I DO NOT WANT OR NEED A BUILT IN WEBCAM.
Dell offered an Inspiron 1520 at one time withOUT a webcam, but for some reason (sold out after the holidays? turned out to be less popular?) they’re no longer available — nor are they available in Flamingo Pink. Boo.
So I’m thinking about calling both Dell and IBP and asking WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY, but who knows.
Unless specified in the accompanying text, as in “Free Car — Engine Is Broken” or “Free Broken Glass” or whatever.
I KNOW beggars can’t be choosers, as well as that you get what you pay for, but you would think that a company like NCSoft would at least make sure that you didn’t get disconnected in the middle of every other fight. Gah.
Okay, I _know_ I carefully packed my GameCube memory card and brought it to Alaska with me, because it was in the same baggie as my PS2 memory cards. I unpacked the box with the PS2 and friends in it; set up said PS2, plugged in the memory cards and played various games.
The baggie and the GameCube card are…? I don’t know. *Pokes things* I got The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Christmas and I can’t play it until I find/buy a memory card. Bummer.
Happy holidays and a refreshing New Year, whatever you celebrate! I myself am thrilled that once again, I’ve made it through the dark of the year and am now looking at longer days. (Even if it DOES mean more light by which to see snow. Oh yay.)

But that’s kinda neat to see.
Christmas is going to be odd around here, this year — my brother’s coming up (he’s already here, in fact), but various other family members have come down with the Galloping Consumption and so are not likely to be too excited by/into grand festivities. Poor things.
Still irked, at least on occasion.
Still working on icons, too — I’ll have them done eventually.
The only one I can give you off the top of my head is ‘nan desu’ or ‘nan desu ka’, sorry.
I know where my textbook is, though, so I can look up the others (most likely you’re looking for conjugating the irregular verbs, right? Like suru? I thiiiink it’s surun desu, but I’m not sure.)
That was easy. And painless. *Hugs WordPress* I love WordPress, yes I do!
